What is progressive overload?

This week we have two short ones! I'm going to go over briefly what progressive overload is and why it is important.

Progressive overload is essentially making your workouts more demanding. This excessive demand is the key for hypertrophy. Progressive overload is increasing either the weight, amount of sets, amount of reps, or time under tension, in order to build muscle. Basically, it means bringing your workout to a level of tensity that it has never gone before. By no means is it expected of you to be able to put 10 pounds on your lifts each and every session, but it means slowly over time, being able to get stronger, or up the intensity of your workouts in order to kickstart hypertrophy.
